WEEK 3 – UNDERSTANDING AURA COLOURS

“Every colour tells a story. An aura is like a living painting, constantly changing to reflect our thoughts, emotions and spiritual journey. This week you’ll learn to understand the language of colour.”

Jayne Wallace

Welcome to Week Three

Congratulations on reaching Week Three.

So far, you’ve learned what an aura is and begun developing your ability to sense and observe energy.

Whether you’ve noticed colours, light, sensations, emotions or simply intuitive feelings, you are building the foundations of aura reading.

This week we are going to focus on one of the most fascinating aspects of aura reading:

COLOUR

Aura colours are not labels or judgements.

They are traditionally interpreted as reflections of the energy you are sensing around a person in that particular moment.

A person’s aura may appear different from one day to another depending on their emotions, experiences, wellbeing, environment and state of mind.

There is no “best” aura colour.

Every colour has beautiful qualities and every colour can also highlight areas where someone may need rest, balance, confidence, expression or reflection.

This week is about learning the traditional meanings of colours while continuing to trust your own intuition.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this week you will:

  • Understand the traditional meanings of the main aura colours

  • Learn the difference between bright, pale, muted and cloudy colours

  • Explore how emotions can influence the colours you sense

  • Understand colour combinations

  • Learn how to interpret more than one colour

  • Notice where colours appear within the aura

  • Understand aura movement and size

  • Begin interpreting an aura as a whole

  • Continue strengthening your intuition

Lesson 1 – Aura Colours Are Always Changing

Unlike eye colour or hair colour, an aura is not something you should think of as fixed.

Think about your own energy.

On a joyful day you may feel:

  • Light

  • Open

  • Confident

  • Motivated

  • Expansive

During a stressful or emotional period, you may feel:

  • Quieter

  • Tired

  • Withdrawn

  • Restless

  • Sensitive

Your energy naturally changes as your experiences and emotions change.

The same principle is used when interpreting aura colours.

Instead of saying:

“You are a blue aura.”

Try saying:

“I’m noticing a lot of blue around your energy today.”

This allows the reading to remain open, positive and supportive.

Jayne’s Tip

“Never tell someone they ‘are’ a particular colour. I prefer to explain that I’m sensing certain colours around them today. Energy is always moving, changing and growing.”

Lesson 2 – Understanding Colour Intensity

When reading an aura, don’t simply notice the colour.

Pay attention to how the colour feels and appears.

Ask yourself:

  • Is it bright or muted?

  • Pale or deep?

  • Clear or cloudy?

  • Warm or cool?

  • Strong or subtle?

  • Steady or moving?

  • Close to the body or expanding outward?

These qualities can add another layer to your interpretation.

Bright or Clear Colours

Bright colours may make you think of:

  • Confidence

  • Energy

  • Enthusiasm

  • Openness

  • Clarity

  • Expression

Pale or Soft Colours

Softer colours may suggest:

  • Sensitivity

  • Gentleness

  • Reflection

  • Calmness

  • Emotional openness

Muted or Cloudy Colours

Muted colours may make you think about:

  • Tiredness

  • Stress

  • Uncertainty

  • Emotional sensitivity

  • Needing rest

  • Feeling overwhelmed

This does not mean anything is “wrong”.

Never frighten someone by describing a colour as negative or bad.

Instead, explore what the colour makes you feel intuitively.

🩶 GREY

Grey does not automatically mean something negative.

Grey may make you think about:

  • Uncertainty

  • Reflection

  • Tiredness

  • Emotional protection

  • Transition

  • Needing space

If you sense grey, ask yourself:

Does this person feel tired, reflective, guarded or simply in a period of change?

Never present grey as something frightening.

🖤 BLACK OR VERY DARK ENERGY

Some people become worried when they notice very dark colours.

Do not automatically interpret dark colours as bad or negative.

Dark energy may make you think about:

  • Protection

  • Privacy

  • Emotional boundaries

  • Feeling withdrawn

  • Deep reflection

  • Needing rest

  • Holding onto strong emotions

Your role is not to frighten somebody.

Always interpret what you sense with compassion and within the context of the whole reading.

Lesson 4 – Where Does the Colour Appear?

As you practise, you may notice that colour does not always appear evenly around the whole body.

You might sense stronger colour around different areas.

Around the Head

This may make you think about:

  • Thoughts

  • Ideas

  • Mental activity

  • Concentration

  • Intuition

Around the Heart or Chest

This may bring your attention towards:

  • Emotions

  • Love

  • Relationships

  • Compassion

  • Feelings

Around the Hands

You may associate this with:

  • Creativity

  • Giving

  • Helping

  • Healing traditions

  • Taking action

Around the Whole Body

A colour that feels strong throughout the aura may seem particularly significant at that moment.

Do not memorise rigid rules.

Use the location of the colour as one clue among many.

Lesson 5 – Colour Combinations

Most people will not remind you of just one colour.

You may sense two, three or even more colours.

When this happens, try interpreting the colours together.

💙 Blue + 💚 Green

Communication combined with compassion.

This may suggest someone who listens, supports or helps others.

💛 Yellow + 🧡 Orange

Confidence, creativity and enthusiasm.

This combination may feel expressive, energetic and optimistic.

💜 Indigo + 💜 Violet

Intuition combined with spiritual awareness.

You may associate this with someone developing their intuitive or spiritual side.

💗 Pink + 💚 Green

Love, nurturing and compassion.

This may feel warm, caring and emotionally supportive.

❤️ Red + 🧡 Orange

Action, passion and creativity.

This may suggest somebody energetic, motivated and ready to make things happen.

💙 Blue + 💜 Indigo

Communication combined with intuition.

This may remind you of someone who is sensitive, thoughtful and perceptive.

💛 Yellow + ✨ Gold

Confidence, optimism and inspiration.

This can feel bright, uplifting and purposeful.

🤍 White + 💜 Violet

Peace combined with spiritual transformation.

You may associate this with a period of deep personal growth or reflection.

Remember:

There is no single correct interpretation.

Ask yourself:

What do these colours mean together for this particular person?

Lesson 6 – Aura Movement

An aura may not feel completely still.

You might notice colours or energy that seem to:

  • Expand

  • Contract

  • Ripple

  • Pulse

  • Brighten

  • Fade

  • Move quickly

  • Drift gently

Movement can add information to your reading.

For example:

An expansive, bright aura may feel confident and open.

A quieter aura close to the body may feel reflective or protective.

Again, this does not mean one is better than the other.

Energy naturally changes.

Lesson 7 – Aura Size

Some people seem to have energy that fills a room.

Others may feel quieter or more contained.

A larger aura does not mean somebody is more spiritual, gifted or important.

It may simply reflect how expressive, confident or energised they feel at that moment.

A smaller or more contained aura may make you think of someone who is:

  • Private

  • Reflective

  • Tired

  • Protective

  • Sensitive

  • Needing personal space

Always consider the whole person rather than making assumptions from one observation.

Lesson 8 – Colour Isn’t Everything

One of the biggest mistakes beginners make is becoming obsessed with getting the colour right.

Aura reading is about much more than colour.

You may also notice:

  • Body language

  • Facial expression

  • Tone of voice

  • Emotional energy

  • Intuitive impressions

  • Words

  • Images

  • Symbols

  • Physical sensations

  • Changes in atmosphere

Bring all of these impressions together.

Colour should support your intuition rather than replace it.

Jayne’s Tip

“Learn the traditional meanings, but don’t become trapped by them. If a colour gives you a very different feeling during a reading, pay attention to that feeling. Your intuition is part of the interpretation.”

Practical Exercise 1 – Colour Meditation

Set aside around ten minutes.

Sit comfortably.

Close your eyes.

Take several slow breaths.

Visualise each colour surrounding you one at a time.

Begin with red.

Imagine the colour gently surrounding your body.

Notice how it makes you feel.

Then move through:

  • Red

  • Orange

  • Yellow

  • Green

  • Turquoise

  • Blue

  • Indigo

  • Violet

  • Pink

  • White

  • Gold

  • Silver

For each colour ask:

  • How does this colour make me feel?

  • Where do I feel it in my body?

  • Does it feel warm or cool?

  • Does it feel calming or energising?

  • What word comes into my mind?

  • Do I like being surrounded by this colour?

Record everything in your Aura Journal.

Practical Exercise 2 – Intuitive Colour Reading

Choose three photographs of people.

Ideally, choose people you do not know very well.

Look at each photograph for around 30 seconds.

Then look away.

Write down:

  • The first colour that came into your mind

  • A second colour, if there was one

  • Whether the colour felt bright or muted

  • Any emotion you sensed

  • Any personality impression

  • One word that describes their energy

Do not search for the colour meanings first.

Record your own impressions before checking this week's colour guide.

This helps you develop your own intuitive language.

Practical Exercise 3 – Reading Colour Combinations

Choose one person you trust and ask permission to practise with them.

Use the soft-focus technique you learned in Week Two.

After a few minutes, close your eyes.

Ask yourself:

“What is the strongest colour I sense?”

Write it down.

Then ask:

“Is there another colour?”

Write that down too.

Now consider:

  • How do the colours work together?

  • What feeling does the combination give you?

  • Does one colour feel stronger?

  • Does one appear around a particular area?

  • What was your first intuitive message?

Only after writing everything down should you ask the person for feedback.

Practical Exercise 4 – Nature Colours

Spend some time outdoors.

Notice the colours around you.

Observe:

  • Green leaves

  • Blue sky

  • Red or orange flowers

  • Brown earth

  • White clouds

  • Golden sunlight

Notice how different colours affect your mood.

Ask yourself:

Which colour am I naturally drawn towards today?

Then ask:

What might I need from that colour?

For example:

If you are drawn towards green, perhaps you are craving calm, balance or time in nature.

If you are drawn towards yellow, perhaps you want more optimism or confidence.

There is no right or wrong answer.

Jayne’s Professional Tips

  • Colours are guides, not labels

  • Trust your first impression

  • Never frighten someone with an interpretation

  • Never assume a dark or muted colour means something bad

  • Look at the whole aura rather than one colour

  • Notice brightness, movement and location

  • Record everything before asking for feedback

  • Do not compare your experience with somebody else’s

  • Stay curious and compassionate

  • Continue practising regularly

Common Beginner Mistakes

Believing One Colour Is Better Than Another

Every colour has positive qualities and areas of growth.

Memorising Meanings Too Rigidly

Traditional colour meanings are a guide.

Your intuition matters too.

Assuming Dark Colours Are Negative

Dark, grey or muted colours can have many interpretations.

Never frighten someone.

Ignoring Colour Intensity

A bright blue and muted blue may feel very different.

Forgetting Colours Change

What you sense today may not be what you sense next week.

Focusing Only on Colour

Remember to pay attention to feelings, words, symbols and other intuitive impressions.

Overanalysing

Your first impression is often the simplest.

Write it down before your logical mind takes over.

Week 3 Homework

Over the next seven days:

  • Practise one colour meditation each day

  • Complete three intuitive colour readings using photographs

  • Complete at least one two-colour reading with a partner

  • Observe colours in nature

  • Notice which colours you are naturally drawn towards

  • Continue practising soft focus

  • Record every experience in your Aura Journal

  • Look back at your notes from Weeks One and Two and notice how your awareness has changed

Week 3 Aura Journal

For each practice session record:

Who or what did I practise with?

What was the strongest colour I sensed?

Was there a second colour?

Was the colour bright, pale, deep or muted?

Where did I notice the colour?

Did the energy feel still or moving?

What emotion did I associate with it?

What was my first intuitive impression?

What meaning did the colour have for me personally?

Week 3 Quiz

1. Can an aura change from day to day?

  • Yes

  • No

2. Does a large aura automatically mean someone is more spiritually evolved?

  • Yes

  • No

3. Name three qualities traditionally associated with green.

4. What might a muted or cloudy colour suggest?

5. True or False

Every aura contains only one colour.

  • True

  • False

6. What should you consider as well as the colour itself?

7. What could blue and green together suggest?

8. Does seeing grey or a very dark colour automatically mean something negative?

  • Yes

  • No

9. Why should you record your first impression before asking for feedback?

Week 3 Reflection

Take a few moments to think about your journey so far.

  • Which aura colour do I feel most connected to?

  • Which colour do I find easiest to understand?

  • Which colour do I find most difficult?

  • Did any colour surprise me this week?

  • Am I beginning to notice colour combinations?

  • Do I see colours, feel them, imagine them or simply know them?

  • Have I become more confident trusting my first impressions?

  • How has my awareness changed since Week One?

  • What would I still like to learn?

Write your reflections in your Aura Journal and revisit them as your confidence develops.

You’ve Completed Week Three

This week you have learned how to:

✓ Understand the traditional meanings of the main aura colours
✓ Recognise bright, pale, muted and cloudy colours
✓ Explore colour intensity
✓ Interpret colour combinations
✓ Notice where colours appear
✓ Observe aura movement and size
✓ Understand that darker colours are not automatically negative
✓ Combine colour with intuition
✓ Read an aura as a whole rather than relying on one colour

You have now developed the foundations needed to begin bringing everything together into a complete aura reading.

Remember:

You do not need to memorise every meaning perfectly.

The colour gives you a starting point.

Your intuition helps you understand the story.

Looking Ahead to Week 4

READING AURAS WITH CONFIDENCE

Next week you’ll bring everything you have learned together and begin conducting a complete aura reading from beginning to end.

We’ll explore:

  • Preparing yourself before a reading

  • Creating a calm and welcoming space

  • Asking permission and setting boundaries

  • Grounding and protecting your energy

  • Connecting with the person

  • Observing colour, movement and sensation

  • Combining colour meanings with intuition

  • Delivering your reading clearly and compassionately

  • What to say when you are unsure

  • Ethics and responsible aura reading

  • Closing a reading

  • Cleansing and grounding afterwards

  • Completing your first full aura reading

By the end of Week Four, you’ll have all the tools you need to complete your first full aura reading with clarity, kindness and confidence.

Jayne’s Final Thought for Week Three

“Aura reading isn’t about seeing spectacular colours. It’s about seeing people with compassion. The colours simply help us understand the beautiful story their energy is telling in that moment.”

Jayne Wallace

Well done on completing Week Three.
